Third Sector Emergency Housing Session

Aimed at voluntary organisations with any interest in housing, the meeting is a platform to raise awareness of the current housing situation in Fife and seek suggestions to improve outcomes for the community.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 - Save The Date
This year, Mental Health Awareness Week takes place 13-19 May and the theme is Movement.
The Community Support Hub, Dunfermline, will be hosting an open event on Wednesday 15 May for all Hub partners (including FVA!) to showcase their services. Mark it in your diaries!

Burntisland and Kinghorn foodbank set to continue
Funding issues have meant that, from July, Burntisland would no longer be supported by Kikcaldy Foodbank due to budget constraints. However, existing members have come to the rescue and will continue the vital service, creating an independent organisation. The new foodbank is currently located at Salvation Army in Burntisland.

Health and Safety Executive updates guidance on RIDDOR
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has updated its guidance on RIDDOR (the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations). There are no changes to legal requirements, but there are changes to the guidance that will help your organisation know how and when they should submit a report under RIDDOR.

SCVO have set up a #RunningCostsCrisis hub to support voluntary organisations with spiralling costs. Support includes information, advice, policy updates, saving tips, training and more.

Lunchtime Learning – Wellbeing Toolkit for clients

Annemarie Smith, Fife Health Promotion Service, will tell us more about the toolkit and what it can do for your clients, including managing daily challenges to mental health and showcasing additional support for frontline staff to develop or maintain awareness of mental health and wellbeing.

Carers' Providers Forum

At the forum, you will hear updates about funding for carers and respitality. There will also be discussion about the Carer Positive accreditation, online communications platform, topline information from the annual carer provider survey, and a presenter for a carers' provider.

Health and Social Care Forum

Our forum is open to any third sector organisation working within the health and social care sector in Fife. The forum is a fantastic space for third sector colleagues to come along and hear about key developments in health and social care in Fife and nationally, discuss significant issues and network with other third sector organisations.

Voluntary Sector Children‘s Services Forum

The forum meets regularly to provide information updates, offer networking opportunities, problem solve, respond to consultations, raise concerns for representatives and particularly Fife Voluntary Action to progress.

The Fife Employability Forum is held quarterly and brings together staff and managers involved in employability services from all sectors - aiming to help organisations to work together to improve employment outcomes for people in Fife.

Changes to Disclosure/PVG processes

We will cover the main changes to disclosures and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about how this will impact you and the services being provided. We will also cover how you can feed into the current consultation regarding the PVG fee waiver for volunteers.

The event will explore what community development means to you. Participants will have an opportunity to meet other community development practitioners and participate in discussion groups about your role in community development and what it means to your organisation.

Volunteers Needed - Robert the Bruce 750th Anniversary Festival
Festival organisers are looking to recruit up to 30 volunteers to help at the event. Duties include helping with car parking, spectator safety, and ensuring access for disabled participants. Travel expenses will be paid and you'll receive a free token for one of the many food vendors on site.

Active Fife May Walking Challenge - Fife Pilgrim Way
May is national walking month, and they are delighted to be launching this year's walking challenge – to walk the Fife Pilgrim Way. You can take part as an individual or you can get together with friends, family or work colleagues and enter as a team.

How do the Scottish Government's capital spending plans affect you?
The Scottish Parliament would like to hear people's views on how decisions about capital spending affect them. Hearing from people across Scotland helps them to get a better understanding of which decisions made by the Scottish Government are, and are not, working.
