Updates on our legal agreements with three employers

Legally binding agreements we secured with three employers - Sainsbury's, National Highways and Paradigm Precision Burnley – recently came to a close, after all employers took action to tackle harassment in the workplace.

We entered into these legal agreements to ensure that employers were taking necessary steps to prevent harassment occurring against their employees and to improve their approach to equality and diversity.

Known as section 23 agreements under the Equality Act 2006, the agreements required the organisations to carry out action plans to tackle harassment, which we then regularly monitored.

All employers have a duty of care to protect their workers and are responsible for ensuring that workers do not face harassment in their workplace. By implementing the action plans, Sainsbury’s, National Highways and Paradigm Precision Burnley will continue helping to protect their employees from experiencing such treatment in the future and have sent a clear message to other organisations that harassment has no place in business or in our society.

You can read more about these legal agreements, why they were signed and the impact they will have, on our website:

We are committed to ensuring that employers are held to account for discrimination, harassment and victimisation so that all workers are treated fairly.
