A new video resource has been launched to update the original ‘Eyes and Ears’ pocket guide resource developed for care at home workers in 2019.    We are aware that there are a growing number of people choosing to continue to live in their own homes, who may have increasingly complex care needs.   The aim of a care at home service is to promote independence and support personal care so that the person can continue to do what matters to them whilst living in their own home.

Care at home carers are often the only professional group who see people daily and can pick up on the subtle changes in the person’s physical health or psychological well-being.  To support learning and development, we have collaborated with the Scottish Social Services Council to produce an educational video which gives a more in-depth overview of how to use the ‘Eyes and Ears’ resource to support a care at home visit.

This video will help care at home staff to consistently monitor the people they care for and to recognise, report and respond to any changes, in that person’s ability, behaviour or presentation, so action is taken to get the right care, support and/or treatment at the right time for that person.

The video can be found on our Hub here.
