Session ‘A’ of the 39th Fife Festival of Music 2019 gets underway on Tuesday 29 January in Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline and will continue until 09 February with sessions taking place in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and Cupar. Entry levels are on a par with previous years and there is a wide range of music-making on offer for both performers and audience.

The Festival enjoys the support of many individuals and organisations and in times when doubts have been raised about the future of music tuition in schools and the wider community, it is pleasing to note that support for the Festival from the youngest primary children to senior and experienced members of the musical community remains undiminished.

The events organised for the ‘A’ period embrace the more traditional format of competitive and non-competitive classes for singers and instrumentalists, covering a wide range of music-making, from clarsach to choirs, Scots songs to opera, strings, brass, percussion woodwind and anything else in between!

Participation in the event is of prime importance to its success and its future. Nowadays, more emphasis is placed on the health and well-being opportunities afforded by exposure to musical activity so the Festival welcomes participants and visitors alike to their platforms and in their audiences: it is a pleasure to see everyone who comes along to enjoy live sounds and presentations.

Prospective audience members are advised that there is an entrance fee of £3.00 per session (morning, afternoon or evening) payable at each venue, with a £5.00 charge applicable for the evening adult choir classes (01 & 04 February), the community music-making on the 06 and the final Young Musician of the Year 2018 on Friday 08.

Further information on the classes, times and venues are available from the Festival website here. Full details of future events later in the year will be announced shortly via the press, Festival website and Facebook.
