Links between parental mental health, child mental health and school outcomes, England: 2021 to 2022
On 18 March, the ONS released analytical insights into the relationship between a child’s mental health and their parents’ mental health. The insights form part of a British academy-funded collaboration with Loughborough University. It uses linked data to explore the factors associated with children’s mental health.
Insights include the difference in the impact of the mental health of mothers compared with fathers. It shows the effect of child mental ill-health on their academic attainment, both directly and indirectly, via school absences.
Changes in individual self-reported health between Census 2011 and Census 2021
On 9 March, the ONS published analysis of the sociodemographic factors in 2011 that were associated with changes or no changes in health status between 2011 and 2021 in England and Wales.
This analysis used linked data from Census 2011, Census 2021 and death registrations.
Deprivation of liberty safeguards, England: 2024 to 2025
On 26 March, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) published a report which provides data on deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS) in local authorities in England.
DoLS are a set of legal checks designed to protect vulnerable adults aged 18 and over, who lack the mental capacity to consent to their care arrangements in a care home or hospital. The report includes the profile of people for whom a DoLS application was received.
Pregnancy infectious diseases screening in Scotland
On 24 March, Public Health Scotland published new official statistics on pregnancy infectious diseases screening in Scotland.
This publication includes information on the number of women eligible for pregnancy infectious diseases screening between April 2021 and March 2024. It also provides details on the coverage, timing, and results of hepatitis B pregnancy screening among these eligible women.
Data are presented by financial year and further broken down by NHS health board and by maternal age, area level deprivation, self-reported ethnicity and whether English is spoken as a first language at home.
Information on pregnancy screening for HIV and syphilis will be added to subsequent releases when national data quality allows.
Welsh Government releases on health and care in Wales
This report summarises data on activity and performance in the Welsh NHS.
This release details data on pharmacies, prescriptions dispensed and pharmaceutical services offered, from April 2024 to March 2025.
This release provides data on patients receiving NHS dental treatment and the activity performed in NHS dental practices from July to September 2025.
This new release details management information provided by local authorities in Wales on social services capacity and demand for January 2026.
This data includes the number of children accessing the second and third phase of the Flying Start childcare expansion between September and December 2025.

Census 2031 Strategy
On 4 March, the ONS launched the Census 2031 Strategy. This strategy provides a clear picture of the purpose and scope of the census. It sets out the goals, objectives and principles that will guide the delivery of a modern inclusive census of England and Wales, trusted by the public and valued in decision-making to shape all our futures.
This strategy creates a common thread from vision to programme activities, encapsulating the whole of what the ONS is aiming to achieve and capturing the key points of how it plans to do it. It describes the breadth of the work involved and highlights priorities for its planning and delivery of Census 2031.
Provide feedback on UKHSA statistics
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is seeking feedback on two statistical publications. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on the Norovirus and Rotavirus statistics and Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage in adolescents in England Statistics publications.
The UKHSA is seeking feedback on these statistics to improve the accessibility, content, and presentation to deliver better value for users.
